Traditional Irish Music & Drinking Songs by Shaughnessy Hill Band

This Montana based group captures the essence and spirit of traditional Irish music with a style uniquely their own. Shaughnessy Hill Band plays Montana Irish and traditional Irish drinking songs, ballads, love songs, songs in Irish Gaelic, and high-energy dance tunes on uilleann pipes, pennywhistles, Irish bouzouki, bodhran, fiddle, accordian, and guitar. The band's piper, David F. Latham, is the only performing uilleann piper in Montana. David and Carol Latham started Shaunnessy Hill in 1992, and soon after that persuaded Brian Cox, another local talent, to join their group. The groups first album, Pub Noise, recorded in 1994, includes such Irish favorites as: Whiskey You're the Divil, Mountain Dew, All For Me Grog, Beer Beer Beer, and Campbell's Return To Red Castle - possibly the best instrumental on the album. In 1995, Wayne Rau and Liam Corbell joined the group and helped to enhance the distinct sound of the group overall. On their second album, Songs of the Shamrock, the name of the group was changed to Shaughnessy Hill, which also reflects their transition to a higher state of musical accomplishment. Songs from their second album include: Molly Durkin, Irish Rover, Moloney Wants A Drink, Tim Finnegan's Wake and Denis Murphy's Polka - excellent! The bands third album, Tannersoster Musikkompani Orkester is a collection of traditional dance tunes from Scandinavia, Ireland, and America, performed with The Bow Benders. Tunes include; Smash the Windows, Irish Washerwoman, Soldier's Joy, Merrily Kiss the Quaker, and others. A very entertaining mix of sounds. Their fourth album, Montana Celtic Live, was recorded live at the Northwest Music Hot Club Coffee House in Troy, Montana. Tunes include; Pub with no beer, When Irish Eyes Are Smiling, and more. To date, the band consists of David Latham, Carol Latham, Brian Cox, Liam Corbell, Kathy O'Leary, and Lee Tonner.
